Carbon Reduction Plan
Our Commitment
At Hires Group, we are dedicated to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030. To ensure transparency and accountability, we have undergone an independent assessment of our carbon footprint in collaboration with carbon accounting consultants to produce a carbon reduction plan.
This assessment provides a baseline of our emissions, which will be updated annually alongside a comparison with the previous year’s data, to help us measure our progress.
How We Measure
Our baseline captures all direct and indirect emissions across Scope 1, 2, and required Scope 3 categories. These include energy and fuel consumption, employee commuting, waste from operations, water use, and purchased goods and services. Where precise data was unavailable, a spend-based methodology has been applied to ensure the most accurate reporting possible. This baseline serves as a reference point for tracking our emissions reduction efforts moving forward.
Completed Initiatives
- Powered by renewable energy: Our offices are REGO certified and powered by renewable energy.
- Eco-friendly transportation: We are committed to only using electric vehicles and all employees currently cycle or walk to work.
- Recycling policy: We exclusively use recycled pens, chlorine-free paper and our technology is TCO certified.
- Sustainable supply chain: We require suppliers to be net zero or, like us, have a concrete plan to achieve this status by 2030.
- Tree planting initiative: For every placement we make, we plant a tree, contributing to reforestation and carbon offset efforts.
- Sustainability reporting: Each year we will produce a sustainability report detailing our progress and challenges to keep us accountable.
- Pending B Corporation: We have committed to balancing purpose with profit and are legally required to consider our impact on the environment.
Planned Initiatives
- Achieve B Corporation Certification: By 2025, we aim to initiate and complete the process to become a fully certified B Corporation.
- Use Refurbished IT Equipment: All future IT equipment purchases will be sourced from recycled and refurbished materials.
- Reduce Business Travel: We are committed to limiting international business travel to one trip per year for a select group of staff.
- Promote Eco-Friendly Commuting: As we grow, we will actively promote our Cycle to Work scheme and low-emission commuting alternatives.
- Screen Suppliers for Sustainability: We will continue to ensure that all new suppliers share our commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2030.
