Background
A 100-person engineering consultancy had a great story to tell. Competing with larger firms for some of the most sought-after projects in the state, their leadership team included former TxDOT Directors, and they’d built a reputation for collaboration, culture, and strong retention.
The Challenge
Success brought a new challenge: building a full structural team from scratch.
That’s no small feat. Candidates are often hesitant to be “first through the door.” What if the firm couldn’t hire more? Would they end up carrying the load alone? But for the right engineer, this was a huge opportunity — the chance to lead a division, deliver major projects, and hand-pick a team.
Our Approach
It started with finding the right leader. We identified a Structural Director willing to take on the challenge, then worked with him to map out the critical skills needed to build the division.
From there, we leveraged our network and ran a high-quality, tailored outreach campaign. Rather than just posting job descriptions, we told the company’s story — showing candidates why this was worth considering.
We stayed involved throughout the process — from interviews to onboarding — ensuring every hire felt confident in their decision.
The Results
The consultancy now has a complete structural team in place:
✅ Structural Director
✅ Bridge Engineer
✅ Structural EIT
✅ CAD Manager
With the right foundation built, they’re already delivering multi-million-dollar projects — and setting themselves up for even bigger wins ahead.
